If you're playing, then something called a rune drops, most people sell it, but why? You could keep them, then when another rune drops and you keep that, you find something that has sockets in it.

If you put those two runes in it, it might be able to make a really good weapon of any kind. For example, if you find a two socket staff you could put a Tir and a Ral in it. Then it turns into a 3 to all fire skill staff.
