I just received some bad news. GameStop just e-mailed me and reported that my order of the PlayStation 2 Game Console cannot be shipped until the Spring of 2001.... back ordered. They told me that they had an Internal System Error, which allowed me to order one.... oh well.
Just wanted to let you know what's going on, just in case you get another report of someone being able to purchase one. I'm debating whether the quest for my PlayStation 2 goes on or do the patient thing. Best Regards, Jamont

Hey Markus,
Just to elaborate on what happened yesterday. I'd seen GameStop on your page and noticed the message next to there site, stating they're taking pre-orders. So, to have peace of mind I decided to link on and go to their site. I had previously been in there and typed "PlayStation 2 Console" and the message I received when the search engine came back was "No Files Found" matching the description.

Yesterday, when looking for where to pre-order, I typed "PlayStation 2 Console" just to "start" looking for where the pre-order. I wasn't expected to get any results on my search, but there it was on the page. The description was "Sony PlayStation 2 Console" along with the "in stock" sign, qty, price and add to cart sign. I was looking for the pre-order or backorder next to the description, but low and behold.... it said "in stock".

I was surprised at first, but of course I added to my cart immediately! I proceeded to purchase Madden 2001, a shock controller and memory card. I was also going to purchase "In Your Face" 2001 (Hockey) and when I put it in my shopping cart, it said "pre-order".... that particular game isn't on the market yet. So I took it out of my cart and then went to check out. At that moment, I new that the PlayStation 2 Console was available because it said "in stock" and if it wasn't, it would have had that same pre-order or back order sign next to it. I filled out all my personal information and finalized the transaction. Once I did, I received a confirmation number and invoice. They also e-mailed me my invoice and on it was all that I purchased including the PlayStation 2 Console. I selected 2nd Day Air which was also on my invoice. They stated that it will be shipped out on the second business day... weekends do not count as a business day (of course) they stated. Also it was written by GameStop, that my credit card will not be billed until they ship my order out. Since then I've checked my order by their tracking system. All items are on the invoice and next to each item, the word "Processing".

Within the hour yesterday (after my purchase), I checked back at GameStop (out of curiosity) and once again typed in "PlayStation 2 Console" and the "No Files Found" message came up again and several times after. I assume they had sold out or shut down availability on the console.

Looks like I was at the right place at the right time! Thanks again Markus.... if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have had the opportunity to order a PlayStation 2 Console for me....."My Christmas Gift"!

I was fortunate to purchase "2" at Toys "R" Us for my Nephew and Niece on behalf of my brother in town.... Very Lucky! I kept calling them every morning a little after they opened and after work. Last Tuesday I talked to the manager on the phone first thing when they opened and he told me he only had 2 bundles that came in. I asked if he could hold them (he did) and I left work. Within 45 minutes they were in my truck and my brother was a very happy man!!!!

I vowed not to give up, so I could give my brother and his children a very Merry Christmas! It was also a kind of challenge by him to me... didn't think I could find any. The one I purchased for myself... well, was an added bonus. I was planning to put my name on the list at GameStop and wait, but there's nothing wrong with an early present!

Hope this helps explain my good fortune Markus. Once again, keep up the good work. You're responsible for making a lot of children as well as adults extremely happy this holiday season! Take care and happy holidays!!!!

Best Wishes,
Jamont

Hi Markus, Just wanted to let you know what a big help your page has been! =) My playstation 2 is reserved & hopefully will be available to me in January! I just wanted to send the email I received from babbages/gamespot yesterday, because I thought you might be interested in what they're telling people:
This email is to notify you about your PlayStation 2 order from Gamestop.com. Based on the amount of PlayStation 2 consoles we have been receiving from Sony, we do not expect to be able to ship your PlayStation 2 game console in time for Christmas. We know this is disappointing news, but at this time it doesn't appear that Sony's production shortfalls will end until after Christmas. With that in mind, please think about your options:

#1 Keep your order open. Please keep in mind that GameStop.com and Babbage's (our parent company) have been getting a bigger share of the available PlayStation 2 consoles than almost any other retailer in the world, so it doesn't make sense to get "out of line" at GameStop.com, and get "at the end of the line" with another retailer. Also keep in mind that GameStop.com will not bill your credit card until your order ships, so there is little cost for you to keep your order open with us. If you would like to keep your order open, you don't have to do anything: we'll keep your order on file until we ship your PlayStation 2.

#2 Cancel your order. We certainly understand if you want to cancel your order. If you would like to cancel your order, please reply to this email and put CANCEL and your order number in the subject line.

Once again, we're working as hard as we can to get more product from Sony, and as always, if we receive any more information, we'll be sure to let you know right away.

Sincerely,
Michael Turner
GameStop.com
I also heard from my OPM magazine that because of a recent agreement w/Toshiba (I think that was it?), Sony will soon be increasing their production from 100,000 to 2 million. Hope some of this helps, thanks again!

Hi, I didn't actually get my Playstation 2 from the places you stated on your site, I purchased it on eBay and it's on its way to me now, but I think your service is great and it definitely encouraged me to keep on trying to get my hands on a PS2. Thanks again, Jill
I just wanted to let you know that I just received my PS2 from MovieGallery.com. Finally I have one, now I can stop sitting in front of my computer everyday. Thanks for the tips, and keep up the good work. Fpaulk
