Sony PSP (PlayStation Portable)

The PSP (PlayStation Portable) is Sony's state of the art hand held video game device featuring MP3 playback, video play back, USB and Wi-Fi!

It's release in Japan on December the 12th, 2004, led to long queues outside PSP retailers and an extreme shortage of PSPs!

PSP US Release Date

Although Sony hasn't announced an exact date for the US release of the PSP, the official press release states that North American and European launches of the PSP are both scheduled for the spring of 2005.

PSP US Pricing

Much like the release date, Sony has made no statement regarding the specific price for when the PSP is released in the US. When it was released in Japan however, it sold for the equivalent of just under $200 US.

PSP Games

Sony has stated that before the PSP is even released in the US, there will be at least 21 PSP games available for the system. The PSP games come on UMDs (Universal Media Discs), an example of which appears to the right. These discs are only 6cm wide and can hold up to 1.8 GB of data each!
